Mmmm, great stuff! Last season seemed like there was a lot of domestic stories (fun though they were) and not as much adventure as there was in season 1. If this two-parter is a sample of what's in store for season two, I think we're in for a wild ride! What's more, we had some world-building, a LOT of foreshadowing, and a LOT of questions that will hopefully be answered in future episodes...

Huzzah! My first episode on TV! Thoroughly enjoyed it, but not my favorite two part episode. Funniest moment was when Pinkie Pie busted out of the Fluttershy disguise. Too bad they didn't develop the villain a little more. Very Darth Maul-esque.

I cannot wait to see what they do with Twilight this season, her use of dark magic is (And there is questionable basis for this) making me hope she apprentices under Luna or something as the 'next phase' of her study. Letters to Princess Luna! Little status quo change! I'm not actually getting my hopes up for that, but it'd be cool.
Less headcanon prophecy wise, the eps were solid to good. I thought the 'Success Song' was a bit shoehorned, that kind of put me off a bit. The fair song was nice though - just to move the plot along and all. Sombra should have been in pony form a bit more I think, than just that one flash from cloud of darkness and junk.
It's a good enough way to start the season and usher in what will undoubtedly be better eps, I think the series works best single ep anyway.

Huzzah! My first episode on TV! Thoroughly enjoyed it, but not my favorite two part episode. Funniest moment was when Pinkie Pie busted out of the Fluttershy disguise. Too bad they didn't develop the villain a little more. Very Darth Maul-esque. Honestly I liked the villain. Defiantly not my fav but he did his job well. While he had very little to no character development that wasn't the important factor. His job to to be looming and threatening which he did very well. He is the only villain so far that actually seems kinda scary without thinking to much into it. The ponies know who he was and know what he wants, and they don't want to know anything more about him. he is very one dimensional, but I think it played to the story well. Nightmare Moon, wasn't all that threatening the worst she did was try to lead them off track.(not threatening in a immediate sense at least) Discord was fun, and not really threatening (again in the immediate sense) Queen Chrysalis, was a bit threatening but the reasons her motives where clear, she was doing it for her people, it was more of a militant thing. (Although when you think into it more she gets more threatening) King Sombra was about to impale Spike on a giant crystal made out of pure hatred, then enslave the ponies to toil away forever for a unknown reason. I honestly think the lack of information about him makes him a good villain. Its the reason why horror movies are usually better when you see less of the monster then more. On top of that his character is subtlety revealed through his legacy and traps laid behind. Like I said I don't think he is the best villain, but I think people aren't giving him as much credit as he deserves.

In my opinion Discord is still the best villain.

Oh, I wouldn't worry about seeing more of King Sombra. We know for an almost fact that a certain Great and Powerful antagonist will be returning this season possibly as one of his flunkies, so it's not outside the realm of possibility that we'll see more of him...

Loved it, not as much as some episodes but the ending song almost demands a karaoke version!
I wanna flugelhorn!

I simply loved the two episodes! Specially because we get to see some Spike! ... What, he's awesome. xD Also... am I the only one that kind of thinks that.. we haven't seen the last of Sombra? I don't know... I am probably saying this because of his horn at the end. It did remain as a whole, didn't it? I mean, it didn't disappear into thin air like he did! I don't know. Also, I really liked how they made it work with Cadence's cutie mark! And... that's all. *squee*

I loved the first two episodes. They where awesome and fantastic. The two songs kicked ass. The villain was amazing and very cool. The backstory was decent for the villain.

I definitely loved it I was so waiting the livestreams but had to wait finally because my internet connection was bad (I hate it ) My only regret here is the songs, which I found not as good as expected (I mean, they're allright, but, for a premiere, well I expected better, I guess they made me picky !) Oh and when Spike was falling, I so would have loved to see him spread wings !

Celestia: "If Hatred and Fear take hold..." *casts dark magic*
Hmm, under the "you have to really want it or know it in your bones" theory of how magic works, Celestia knows what it means to hate and fear.
Then again, what does that mean when Twilight used the same thing?

Needed more Applejack. I really enjoyed it, almost felt like I was watching a movie even, feels like they've really upped their game since last season. I liked both the songs, though the Crystal Fair song felt kind of short. I think my favorite part was Twilight's gravity spell, the whole tower sequence was very well done in my opinion.
