One thing to keep in mind is that, in general, folks probably don't think your movements and poses are as odd as you think they think. I used to be nervous about how I appeared doing just about any movement, until I realized that people don't really care. If they do, that should be their hang up, not yours.

I always look at it this way: nobody who walks by is going to think "Golly gee that person is strange! I'm going to go home and tel my whole family about that weird guy stretching. Then I'll tell the whole office tomorrow!"
Mot people probably think, "Huh, that guys is stretching after his workout. What am I gonna do for breakfast tomorrow?"
Joe the average schmoe isn't gonna really care about your stretching. So go for it. And if someone you do know sees you stretching and approaches you, you can generally strike up a pretty comfortable conversation with them that explains your behavior.
In other words, go for it!

Pretty much the only time I notice what someone else is doing in the gym is if I'm looking for a rack and someone's curling in it or something.
Also the bar for form is so low at your average gym that I'm likely to be impressed at anything even remotely decent, Lol.
Something that's legitimately embarrassing: failing a bench press rep, three people run over like you're about to die.

Every professional does stretching before doing their thing, hell some even have their own stretching coach. People who laugh about that are definetly not frequent users of a gym or anything that involves physical exercise .

Just go ahead and stretch, think less about the embarrassment and think more of the benefits your body will receive in the end. Always helps me, or just listen to music at the same time. That completely distract me from the people around.
