Hi every pony.
A little background before I introduce my question. I wake up every morning around 5 am and eat breakfast right away. I find that after my morning commute to school, I start feeling extremely hungry at 9 am. I have class/lab every day around this time so eating becomes really inconvenient and I usually end up getting a high calorie snack from the vending machine.
I really hate doing this, but if I wait until my class is finished I am in a lot of discomfort from hunger and end up over eating.
Any ideas on how to stay full, or some snacks that are convenient on the go over a long commute in very hot weather?
Thank you, every pony.

It's normal to get hungry, just don't eat junk food. Pack a fruit or something healthy in advance. And drink lots of water.
Good luck

Best way to avoid poor eating decisions is to plan ahead. Have something healthy on hand. A handful of almonds is also a great snack, and they probably hold up better in a backpack.

Dont try to eat less then your body need. If you are hungry try to eat "good" food and resist junk food or candy. Maybe it would help if you eat smaller portions before you get really hungry because you are saturated faster.

How do you feel about carrots?
Portable, palatable, and somewhat filling.

I'm in a similar situation, except I don't wake up quite that early. I'd recommend trail mix. You can buy it pretty cheap in bulk and it's quite filling; just avoid the super sugary ones. Like madbrony said, eat small amounts more frequently, maybe during your long commute? Other options are apples, crackers, pretzels, string cheese, or a combination of the above.

As others have said, make sure your caloric needs are being met. Also, make sure you're drinking plenty of water; that can help with one's appetite.

I never eat before about 5 PM. If I eat a little, I tend to overeat. I find it much easier to just say "I'm not going to eat anything right now" than "I'm going to eat, but only a little bit."
I'd say a huge, huge portion of my success in losing weight has been due to intermittent fasting.

Here's a question: What are you eating for breakfast? If you're eating the traditional 'bowl of cereal', that could be a contributing reason to why you feel hungry later. You know the joke about how you feel hungry an hour or two after eating Chinese food? Well, there's a reason: Grains and cereals (such as rice and wheat) get metabolized VERY quickly, emptying your stomach leaving you feeling hungry. Try something that your stomach has to take it's time to digest for breakfast to prevent those midmorning cravings!

I suggest eating a bit later than at five. Like eat a big breakfast at like 6 or 7 A.M. and maybe you won't feel hungry.

I've head that the two best ways to get rid of that hungry feeling is to drink water or chew bubblegum, I've experimented with many diets for the fun of it and these things really did help me.

I agree with duhflutterguy on the bubblegum and water. If your getting up at five then by nine your approaching your lunch time when you say your feeling hungry, this is natural for you. There's about a 5->6 hour gap between the average persons breakfast and lunch, maybe full up with wholegrain cereal if your not, it takes longer to digest and keeps you fuller for longer. Pack some nuts and or fruit with you for when you feel hungry, when hungry rate your hunger between (least)one and five(most) and never eat when you feel less then a three. Or change your eating regime to suit your study schedule, move your lunch and dinner time to earlier in the day to match your early mornings.

The two best options for that "full" feeling are fiber and lean protein.
