That depends upon the terrain. If I am confident of it not having too many sharp pitfalls, I go barefoot. If there are some sharp rocks around, I wear moccasins. For rougher terrain, such as rocky hills, I wear mountain boots. For all around terrain, I wear velcro shoes.

Hey, another merrell fan! I'm on my third pair of the merrell trail glove, it has really worked for me.
I might get some Olympic lifting shoes soon for my squat workouts. I have sprinting spikes for track races.

I'm usually barefooted since I work out at home, my feet have hurt during plyometric workouts about three times over two years, so its fine for me. When I'm running outdoors I just put on the flashiest shoes I have, which isn't hard since I only have 3 pairs of shoes, 2 of which are not appropriate for running.

I just use my steel toe work boots for just about anything and everything. They're far from ideal for just about anything I do because they're really worn out but I don't mind it. I've recently thought about getting a pair of Vibrams or Fila toe shoes, everyone I know with a pair love them and say they're great for cardio and working out in general.

I love skater shoes, wide, flat, thick material and comfy but they have proved completely useless for long walks, I have walked about 50 miles in the past week during exercise walks and I worn through a pair that when worn casually usually last be many months.(I have bought the same design of shoes the past two times I needed shoes) I'm going to be grabbing some middling brand trainers in the near future to add some bounce to my step that the skater shoes don't provide and I would recommend doing the same.
