Here in Mexico is not weird to eat Quesadillas when there is nothing else to cook or to accompany them with a lot of different foods, very common in our meetings and events.
So I have been eating quesadillas my entire life, and finally today I got curious and checked how many calories does one quesadilla have... 400 calories per quesadilla...
I was completely shocked, I'm definately never eating another quesadilla ever agaiin seriously, today I ate 2 with my meal and that alone added 800! calories to a meal that had around 400, making it in total 1200... in just a lunch.
So yeah, just wanted this out here so people don't fall into the same trap as I did.

Wow who knew they where that bad for you. And I love those things. My favorite Mexican food ever. It's okay to eat those once in a while I think.

How big/what kind of quesadilla? Like a large flour tortilla with just cheese? I had no idea, jeez... my mom is the Mexican Food Queen, so I grew up on quesadillas, burritos, enchiladas, etc. It's still my favorite comfort food.

I'm also a big quesadilla lover, they really don't have to be as unhealthy as all that though. There's a lot you can do to make them less harmful and perhaps beneficial enough to even out with the right exercise. An example being this recipe for a chicken quesadilla. I'm not saying to follow that particular recipe to the T however, there are ways that could be improved still, for instance the recipe suggest flour tortillas but wheat tortillas would be more ideal. A lot of it is just finding the healthiest or least unhealthy option for each ingredient. Shredded chicken breast, wheat tortillas, and making sure the cheese is low-fat can help make these into a protein, calcium, and fiber filled meal. If you wanted to try a less traditional recipe, check out some vegetarian alternatives such as this spinach quesadilla. There's a lot of options out there for your food, you just have to search.

You can always make your own and use whole wheat wraps instead. And put healthy stuff in it.

A lot of it is the type of wrap it's in. Tortillas are calorie traps. But they make some decent ones out there that are around 100 calories or less each, and actually taste pretty good. You can easily turn a 400 calorie one into a 200-250 calorie one with some little changes!
