During this autumn season, I have had the misfortune of getting sick--repeatedly. I just recently got over my last case of allergies (3 time in fall) and am hoping that they do not find me again this year. Of course, staying active while sick is...well, difficult. I couldn't go anywhere without a tissue the past few days and felt much lethargy during my ailing. I had such a desire to go for a run, but my allergies held me back. Hopefully, through diet change (which I am currently undergoing) and more frequent exercise, I will be void of common illnesses. From what I hear, a fit body is a healthy body; however, sometimes we just can't avoid illnesses. Now the question for discussion: [glow=red,2,300]How do I deal with illnesses while still trying to be healthy?[/glow] I know the obvious answer is just to persevere through it and rest, but I can't stand that feeling--I want; rather, need to be active. I love running and can't stand being held back by an illness. So, brony health group, what do you think? Any comments, insights, or criticisms welcome.

Depends how sick you are. I find that if I just have a small cold, running will actually make me feel better. On the other hand, if you have a 103 fever like I had two weeks ago, you really shouldn't be exercising. In fact, don't exercise if you have any fever. I got sick and felt like dirt for about two weeks around 1 month ago (First time being sick in almost 2 years). Couldn't work up the energy to work out. In my view, there is nothing wrong with taking it easy. I knew I would work out again as soon as I recovered. Health is not a sprint, but a marathon. Got to be in it for the long haul.
Maybe just try a brisk walk for 30 - 60 minutes?

If allergies is the problem, try to do things that don't expose you to your allergy. I know pollen is a big one for a lot of people, but their are a lot of things you can do inside. Or maybe your problem is your allergic to cats. Well the rumor is there are exercises you can do outside too. Or perhaps your allergy is dogs. Such a thing could work in your favor, should you enlist the aid of another to chase you with their dog it would be a fine motivator.
But I am just being a turkey-face over here. But there are things you can do. Where there is a will, there is a way.
