For an exercise that you can do whenever I personally love to practice the hardstyle Melbourne shuffle, it is a really cool dance that makes it look like you glide across the floor, take a look. www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL17BC97082C466326&feature=g-liston this playlist there are many videos of hardstyle shuffling as well as tutorials on how to do it. Personally i have been doing it for around a year and i strongly suggest anyone with any interest in dancing to check this out, once you have learned the basics you can do it anywhere! at any time! Great leg exercise!

I tried it once, I looked like scene who was so angry at the floor, they kept repeatedly stomping on it :/ but if you are coordinated (unlike myself) I'd highly recommend it, I worked up quite a sweat every time I did it.

Is it only recommended to do this exercise on hardwood? I would love to practice this, but in my own room... away from anyone's view... so that I don't embarrass myself xD

I tried it once, I looked like scene who was so angry at the floor, they kept repeatedly stomping on it :/ but if you are coordinated (unlike myself) I'd highly recommend it, I worked up quite a sweat every time I did it. First of all, don't quit before you've started, you just got to work out your taijutsu. You don't usually get dance moves to a fluid level when you haven't built up the muscle memory and/or coordination. My theater director in highschool used to say that I was "anything but graceful". Now I am star of the dance floor just about everywhere I go. There are also other types of dances you can do. I don't really know any names for them (I just learned this was called melbourn shuffle right now), I learned from the breath of the winds and the rushing of the river (e.g. I taught myself by improvising/watching those around me). I can't imagine limiting myself to one style of dance. It cracks me up to see the hard style shufflers sitting around on the side lines with their prodigious jeans and I ask them why they aren't dancing and they say "I am waiting for a song I can shuffle to". Hardstyle is limited because it has big deliberate leg movements and sometimes you need to be a little more dexterous. Though I will say, when Hard stylists have the right song, its is pretty awesome.
