My name's Jason. I'm 23 and have a B.S. in Game Development from Full Sail University. This means I have a lot of student loan debt. Unfortunately, I haven't actually gotten a job programming yet, so have spent the last couple years doing call center tech support and now 3rd shift retail. Early in March of this year I was depressed and 270 lbs. Then I started watching the best show ever and am no longer depressed and have lost over 40 lbs.
My goal here is to continue to find more motivation to lose weight and get in shape and also to share any tips I can for what has worked for me.
...best pony? Um... all of them? If I had to pick just one, Fluttershy. Probably.

Great to hear my little pony got you out of depression, it's a really nice show.

Hello! I think a lot of bronies can relate to what you said. While I'm suspicious that a TV show can cure depression, it's undeniable that it's gotten through some really dark times and was one of the only bright spots during my Year of Awful 2010-2011. (Is it a coincidence that Year of Awful ended soon after I became a brony? Who knows.)
I hope you're able to start doing what you love soon - I'm going to try to get a job as a caretaker once I graduate, even though that's not my degree, since I know I'll like it better than retail or whatever else, ugh. It's more physically demanding and still minimum wage, but you get to care for people personally and make a difference in their lives, which is awesome.
Anyway, welcome to the forums and good luck on your road to health!

Welcome to the forums, bro! So when are you going to start work on making a virtual reality Equestria?

While I'm suspicious that a TV show can cure depression, I won't say that the show alone is responsible for my lack of depression, but if it weren't for the show, I'm pretty sure I still would be depressed. I'm sure that starting to get in shape has been a big help on that front, and since I wouldn't have started that without watching mlp... So when are you going to start work on making a virtual reality Equestria? When I have people to help me (and give me direction, as I'm not really sure where to even start on that) and my finances are no longer an issue so I have time to devote to it. EDIT: I suppose if I had time to devote to it I wouldn't need direction, as I could take the time to figure it out. A project such as this would start with a massive design document. Thanks for the welcome, everyone. I'm glad to be here.
