If you are sick with a very contagious virus and brush your teeth while you have it, you may want to find a safe way to sterilize your toothbrush. Because you can brush your teeth and get sick all over again.

Lots of water Lots of Vitamin C (Whether in pill or REAL food form) Lots of rest
That's my go-to solution to any illness or if I'm also trying to prevent illness before some important event. The thing about the sleep thing though is to not get TOO much sleep. It's so easy to mope in bed but unless it's serious I really recommend just adding a few hours on to you sleep schedule, keeping that sleep pattern consistent and then getting out of bed to walk around and get some fresh air.

When your body recovers fromm an illness it produces antibodies and they stay for some time so *normally* you shouldn't be able to get the sickness back from your own germs (but the same disease from another source yes). But again, of course it does not hurt to clean everything

One thing that I've found amazing for sore throats, cough, and a stuffy nose is a mixture of the following:
1 part Whiskey 1 part lime/lemon juice 1 part honey
Stick it in the microwave for about 1 minute or until hot. Ensure you keep hydrated, though, as the alcohol in it might dehydrate you. I've had to have these drinks a couple times before classes/work in order to help shake off the funk of a sore throat.

Well there is also the basic grog, rhum+lemon+honey+hot water which can do miracles too :-) Although I think the alcohol can be avoided though, that it's there for the taste mainly. But for Princess Celestia's sake : HONEY ! I knew it was good for the throat but I didn't know how good it was for the body, globally. It kills bacteria and all (you can even use honey on a wound to make it heal better and faster) Read it a couple of days ago on wikipedia, I never would have guessed it was *that* healthy ^^ ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honey#In_medicine )

While the alcohol content of the Whiskey will be burned off due to heating, the small amount left does help numb the throat a bit. It's part of the reason many over-the-counter cough syrups also have an alcohol content, among other reasons.

Lots of vitamin C, lots of garlic, lots of ginger, huge pots of steaming hot tea, a good TV series to watch while sick (I recommend Twin Peaks, it's really weird but really good).

If you are sick with a very contagious virus and brush your teeth while you have it, you may want to find a safe way to sterilize your toothbrush. Because you can brush your teeth and get sick all over again. Vinegar is a good thing to use on your toothbrush. For sterilizing, first boil some water and put your toothbrush in it (both the bristle end and the holding end if you are sick, otherwise just the bristle end). Then dip it in vinegar for extra protection. Just dipping it in vinegar will help keep your toothbrush cleaner if that's all you use. Also Vinegar is very good for sore throats. Swish and swallow a tablespoon of vinegar. It will burn a lot and be very uncomfortable, but it helps get phlegm and mucus in the back of the throat loose (so you aren't coughing so much) and it gets rid of dead cells allowing your throat to heal faster. It's always good to follow this up with plenty of water, because vinegar (even Apple Cider Vinegar) tastes nasty and will cause immediate irritation. Also Vinegar is good for upset stomach, because it adds acidity to your stomach and netralizes fats irritation on your stomach. It's also good for heartburn. I recommend Apple Cider Vinegar over regular vinegar because it has a more bearable taste, and can be used for cooking, cleaning and a lot of other things, but it's just apple-er... If you have stomach problems, don't use mint, garlic, or tomato, because those all make stomach irritation and heartburn worse. Garlic is best used if you have a cold or sinus problems, but if you have stomach problems like the flu, stay away from it. Also, saltines may be good for an upset stomach, but get UNsalted ones. No matter what kind of sickness you have, water is your friend, and being dehydrated is bad. Salt takes water away so it's only common sense that you avoid foods/drinks that dehydrate you, such as alcohol. It tricks your mind into making you feel better, and although a tablespoon or so can be helpful, a full serving is not going to do you any good, besides making you think you feel warm and fuzzy.
