It was pretty good, I love the idea Saddle Arabia. I can't wait to see what people do with it.

...ahem, I believe the excitement has worn off. This was splendid, simply splendid. I just... it was so good. It had so many awesome parts. I loved Daniel Ingram's BGM for it. I loved everything about it!

Definitely my favorite so far. And all the awesome things people will write with Saddle Arabia, Alicorn Amulet, and getting resolution to what happened to Trixie. I was glad to see her contrition at the end. I think it makes her a more likable and developed character (Rather than a one-dimensional braggart). I liked the pony in the curio shop at the beginning. Wonder if we'll see the amulet again in a later episode . . .

Sweet Celestia, that was pure awesomness ! Ma favorite episode, and I would say the one to show people who really can't admit that it's not just a show for children (only problem is, that might set their expectations too high)
Juste rewatched it, and One Bad Apple too. Did you notice that's two episodes in a row without a letter to Princess Celestia ?

Why? Because she was out of the country!
...and Luna has other duties.

Now that you mention it, I'm a little confused about the lesson for this one, don't get possessed by an evil amulet and turn into a jerk?
I will admit, the digging through books scene felt kind of lazy to me, especially the books though.

The lesson is, if a blue unicorn ever tries to wreck your life with dark magic; you're tripping.
On a more serious note, the episode was great. Loved the world building, especially. Have they ever actually said Alicorn before in the show itself? Because I think that was new, but I can't say for certain.

That "little shop of magical trinket that wasn't there yesterday" was awesome, simply awesome, and I want to see more of it! If they have some dude hawking magic stuff, it's bound to cause trouble! "Cutiemark Crusaders Necronomicon Users YAY!" and similar problems. I liked the worldbuilding as well, this Saddle Arabia seems an interesting place. And Zecora is always wonderful, I liked how she acted somewhat like Morpheus to Twilight's Neo in the training sequence.

What was the 'lesson' in this episode? It's pretty much the same reason I prefer old 'Silver Age' superhero comics to the current ones, as they pretty much did the same thing: If you encounter someone who can outPOWER you, you outSMART them! While Trixie was going for what were essentially 'power attacks', Twilight defeated her with little more than slight of hand and body paint.
What really excites me about this episode was all the worldbuilding that went on: We know the Alicorn Amulet exists, and it looks suspiciously like something King Sombra would wear. How many other of these magical geegaws are floating around? What powers do they have? My money's on the idea that the Amulet contained a portion of Sombra's essence as an insurance policy in the event that someone opened up a can of Crystal-powered whoopass on him someday.
And let's talk about the lands outside of Equestria! We saw the emissaries from Saddle Arabia, but the shopkeeper at the start of the episode suggests that there's also a pony China! As a fan of Wu Xia films, this excites me to no end!

I'd really like to see some more explanation on the world of Equestria and the entire planet really. A lot of fanfics I read suggest there there are a lot of different countries and kingdoms, such as the Gryphons having their own country. The show so far seems to suggest to Equestria makes up the entire planet though. Other species like dragons and gryphons seem to simply be inhabitants and have some locations but no real land possession or nation.

Maybe it was the amulet that helped Sombra take control of a kingdom.

Maybe it was the fact that nobody used the amulet to stop him that let him take over a kingdom!
I'm sorry, I'll be quiet.
