Hello, BHG forum. My name is Arkaine. I am a 23-year-old former US Marine. I'm also slightly unhinged up top, as one could probably tell by the post title.
Anyway, I am here because I enjoy being in shape. Before I joined the Marine Corps, I lived a very sedentary life, focused mainly on reading, eating, and playing video games. Also internet. As you can imagine, I wasn't the healthiest of people, although my actual weight only ever got up to around 180-190 pounds.
Anyway, long story short, I made the decision to join the Marine Corps and by the time I got out of basic I had dropped down to a lean, mean 160. I never felt better in my entire life. To quote a famous cyan pegasus, "And I liked it!"
By the time I left active service, my experiences had soured me to the act, if not the concept, of strenuous physical exercise. I'm not gonna pull punches here. I hate working out. It sucks. After you're finished, you're sore for days and ugh, it just blows chode. Still, I understand how important exercise is to a healthy lifestyle, and I refuse to let myself return to the out-of-shape tubby bastard I was for fear of a little pain.
I hope I can use this site and the people in it to keep myself motivated and in shape. I also hope I can be of assistance to anyone currently trying to get into shape, be it for the first time or otherwise. I don't know what, exactly, I can contribute, but I'll damn sure contribute something. That is all.
Twilight and Rarity are best pony.
Luna is best princess.
Unicorn master race FTW.

Welcome!
Health is so much more than weight, but that's usually a starting point for a lot of us. I know people who are 130 lbs. and are tired, fatigued, and sickly because of what they load their body with (Caffeine and carbohydrates).
As far as working out I used to have the same feelings. "I could be doing X instead of running on this treadmill." But I like how I feel, so I too will keep working out every day.
And I highly approve of Twilight and Luna.

Welcome to the club, Arkaine!
Let me tell ya, if works at the gym were the only way to stay in shape, I would totally go insane. There are lots of fun ways to be able to train on the go.
Seeing as you served as a Marine, have you heard of something called FOB Equestria? I am friends with one of the guys who runs it and it is basically a group uniting military bronies from around the world.

Good site, needs more publicity. Here's hoping we get more members once S3 hits.
