I have been holding an eye out for Brony Health Group since Equestria Daily announced its existence. Decided to register today to finally do something instead of simply lurking. I do graphics & art primarily in my free time, but spend a lot of time listening to music as well. Here's some of what I listen to: bandcamp.com/bastianLast but definitely not least I am a Linux user and love to participate in online commnities like this one for example! My goal is to do something about the lack of strength in my upper body. I already run several times a week, so this is my primary focus. Thanks for creating this website, looking forward to get started next week!

Welcome! I wish all the lurkers would register. A Linux user, huh? I have Backtrack 5r3 on my laptop (Just to play with). It takes some getting used to. I don't know how many times I have typed ipconfig only to realize I am in the wrong OS.
We may have something coming up soon for all of you talented artists out there . . .

Thank you for the welcome! I'm an arch linux user with Gnome 3 but dualboots with Windows. Yea, getting used to two different OS is kinda hard - hopefully I can ditch Windows at some point in the future as I feel more home in the other.

Time to start off with basic push ups and pull ups to get you prepped in building the upper body strength. Maintain your cardio with your running as well that good.

Time to start off with basic push ups and pull ups to get you prepped in building the upper body strength. Two of the best exercises known to man/pony.

Basic Start Off - Alternate between the two then finish with 30 burpies. Push-Ups (Standard) 3 sets of 25 reps Pull Up (Front Grip) 3 sets of -- Put a number you want. Like 10 pull ups, if you do 5 and let go, jump back on until you complete the 10 pull ups. Burpiees 30 Reps - bit.ly/2P6gJH

Bonus points! Alternate between high intensity (low rep) and high volume (high rep) days. So do one day like dexterino described above as a higher volume day. For a higher intensity day, put some weight on your back so you can only do 5-8 pushups/ pullups. This will create grater strength gains in general if you don't have access to barbells and a gym. The only caveat is that you are able to do 12 pushups/ pullups before starting to add weight to them. Burpees are fun. Add in a broad jump to make them more fun. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpCmWSdhw4c
