Best episode ever or best episode ever? Once again Applejack proves to be best pony by being the only pony to keep in touch with Celestia. Though I doubt Celestia even requires it of the best pony after the last letter proved AJ is best pony by knowing the lesson all along and not needing to learn anything. I just want to be clear, I'm in no way bias and feel everypony is equal. (even though AJ is best pony anyway) To be perfectly honest though, I felt Applejack was a little out of character in this episode. To me, Applejack seems like the most sensible pony of the mane six and usually understands what kind of things are important and meaningful. I think the only way I can see her acting the way she does is because of her hardworking and headstrong nature, perhaps blinding her a bit to everyone's discontent. My absolute favorite part of this episode would have to be the shooting stars, hinting to Applejack's parents. Other favorite/questionable moments, Wet mane Applejack, sewing machines, and fruit bats. I can't help but wonder how they were able to pull the cords to the sewing machines without their teeth falling out, especially with a clear display of them rattling out from the vibrations alone, I guess that's pony physics though. I can't wait to see what artists do with the fruit bats. Applejack is best pony

I hope they put the friendship reports back in at the end of each episode. I like the way they tie everything together, especially for the younger viewers. I was glad to not see Applejack's parents in this episode (I read about the shooting stars this morning on EQD, another great inclusion by the show staff). I think it adds depth and realism to her story. I think the funniest part was when Applejack used Spike as a lighter. The fruit bats were a cool addition to the zoology of Equestria, as well as the number of places named at the beginning. More material for fan fiction. Overall, I liked the episode and I really enjoyed the song. I didn't think I would but it was so catchy.

Oh, Spike lighter, I want one of these ! Globally I think it was a great episode, but under the standard for season 3, in my opinion. But I guess it depends on what we expect from the show, my favorite is maybe Magic duel, more adventure like ^^ Didn't notice for the shooting stars, I guess I'll have to rewatch it soon ! But for Applejack parents, I also notice there was more shoots on the American gothic family-like picture on the wall, maybe it's really them ?

I was kind of curious about the Spike being used as a lighter scene, doesn't seem fitting for a children's show. Granted it's not it's only use but typically you would associate lighters with smoking.
I didn't even notice the painting on the wall. While the colors of the two in picture don't seem fitting, both in Apple family color scheme, and in the way that their hair matched their fur. I suppose it's possible though, there were a select few ponies at the reunion that had the odd dark blue and other such non-apple colors. I speculate such ponies might be by marriage though. Wouldn't want to keep it in family after all, although one pony in particular could suggest otherwise...
