Hello everypony, my name is Thunder Chaser, or Webizc (YouTube), or Eric (earth). I have been wanting to start a Brony Health Group and then I found this so I decided to join. I have been overweight for a while and I fall under the Obese category with a BMI of 39. I am 16 years old and ever since I was little I have been on the overweight side. I have been trying to lose weight lately and have lost 10 pounds in a month but I need to lose more then that with my weight (280). I hope being on here will help me start trying to lose weight again. I don't have much support at home (my mom is also heavy and she wants me to lose weight but still make cookies and brownies all the time and she isn't trying herself to lose the weight) and I know I will get support being here. -TC

Welcome! Ten pounds in a month is pretty good, it's a healthy rate to lose weight. I started out similar to you, I was at 260 and worked my way down to 185, it wasn't quick or easy but it was worth it. If you want some advice on the baked goods and support at home, I would recommend trying to quit sweets. It was my first step to a healthier life style. I quit them cold turkey and there was temptation at first but before long there's no temptation at all, I can have a birthday cake or brownies sitting right in front of me now and there's no temptation. I'm not saying you have to quit cold turkey, it's fine to take it slow as well, the important part is to let your mom and others around you know that you're doing it. I think if you commit to it and tell your mom about it, she might be less likely to bake stuff and will probably make an effort to keep sweets out of your sight to help you. One thing I found when I quit sweets was that people around me that did baking, really didn't have as much reason as before to continue baking. One of the reasons I make this recommendation is because sweets are simply an after thought, they're an extra and no matter how much you like them, you'll never think of them as a real food. You pretty much don't look at a cupcake and think it will be filling, at least not hunger wise, it might fill a sweet tooth but that's about it. Another reason is because it's a huge help to getting your taste buds back to their senses, when you eat rich, salty, sweet foods all the time, your taste buds become too accustomed to that stuff and make it difficult to eat less rich foods, vegetables and the like. This was my favorite part about cutting out junk food over time, I'm to a point where I can eat all sorts of vegetables enjoyably now, before cutting out junk food I couldn't tolerate a carrot, now I can eat kale like potato chips. I hope this helps you a little and if you have any questions, feel free to ask, there's no such thing as a silly question.

Welcome here! I wish you best of luck for your crusade, and I hope you'll find the motivation to go though it, though since you've come here, it should be ok :-) And your name sounds like Wonderbolt material, so i'm pretty confident too !

You can count on my support! I know it can be hard when there is temptation around you, but do what deathmineral suggested. Tell you Mom and others this is important to you. Your decision to live a healthier life can be an inspiration to them. Just like obesity is socially contagious, so is health. And whatever you need, just ask away.
