Hello, people! I am twistsandturns. I reside in Ontario, Canada, and I wish to build some muscle. I'm the tall and skinny kinda guy, and I'm just starting to exercise. I have Fitness Gear brand resistance tubes to help, but I have no exercise regiment. Also, I love the meal planner suggested on the main site, but I don't like the fact that I have to pay. If anyone can help me with either of these, that'd be greatly appreciated.

For muscle building, would you be more interested in body weight exercises like push ups and pull ups or do you prefer lifting weight exercises like bench press and dead lift? Depending on which of these you prefer, I'd recommend taking a look at a thread in the Strength Training forum, there's quite a bit of detail and knowledge in though. Personally I like body weight exercises better, I focus mainly on pull ups anymore and they've worked out great for me so far. Your weight is something to consider while strength training as well, if you're too skinny, that could work against you a little bit when it comes to building muscle. I would say this is more important if you do body weight exercises as that extra weight helps add resistance. I wish I could offer advice on the meal planning but I eat non-stop and so far haven't found a way to fix that on me. Good luck with your efforts, if you have questions, don't be afraid to ask.

Thanks for getting back to me. I kinda prefer weight exercises, but I do some body weight exercises from time to time.
My main problem is that I have a high metabolism. I can't hold a lot of weight for long, so that's why I'm pretty lightweight and skinny.

Hi there, and welcome here ! I know less about exercizing that many here, but to my knowledge, there are some exercises meant to develop strength and others meant more to develop endurance, did you try focusing on the latter ? Good luck with your goals ! ^_^

My main problem is that I have a high metabolism. I can't hold a lot of weight for long, so that's why I'm pretty lightweight and skinny. That's a good problem to have! Depending on your metabolism and how hard/much you work out, you probably need to consume more calories. Protein is the best choice for those calories. Be it from whole foods, such as chicken, or whey protein shakes. I use both.

I recently started eating egg whites before and after my workouts and I think it's helped me quite a bit. I probably take in more protein than I need every day anyway but actually taking it in closer to my workouts seems to work well. Egg whites are pretty good for this just because of how quickly you can cook some up.
