Eating habits can be really hard to change depending on what is going on around you.
I used to snack at my desk while I worked on projects or watched movies/TV. Same with most of my friends.
When I started eating better, the biggest thing I wanted to change was the out right snacking. Though it can be healthy I wanted to distance myself from boredom foods to decrease the strange food cravings.
The best way I found to do this was not eat anywhere but my dinner table. I will keep a bottle of water near me at all times but food goes no where outside the kitchen and that table.
By distancing myself from it I was snacking less outside my normal meal times.
The biggest problem I come across is when I have my days off is maintaining the same food/time schedule I have at work. With work its easy, I have breaks and I eat the following:
First break: Almonds, Peanuts and Pistachios (Sometimes a random seed mix) and a protein bar. On my way back to my desk I have my first protein shake. Lunch: A banana, clementines if they are in season or a granola bar. Second protein shake. Last Break: Apple and low fat yogurt (Really wish I could do the Greek yogurt but the consistency just puts me off to it)
Without that work day structure though it is harder for me to maintain that even distribution through out the day. I am trying to see if alarms/timers work to keep me more aware of time since I tend to get lost in things easy.
